What’s With The Domain

This post will enlighten and befuddle, you will leave with no answer, left to make assumptions for yourself. You’ve been warned, venture forth at the risk of an inflamed curiosity.

Some might wonder what the domain name connotates. That perhaps it’s reference to something else. I’m sure the reader could easily come to such assumptions. I might have fell upon this domain name by way of exploring possible connotations. Though perhaps it’s not as simple as it seems, the easily drawn conclusion could very well be the false assumption. Maybe even if it’s not the reason for the name, perhaps it plays a part.

Long ago, llmII assuredly had grandiose ideas and plans. Few of which came to fruition. One such plan was to amass a group… a legion perhaps… of programmers, working towards grand world conquering schemes. The main idea was to be a legion of programmers, cooperating to enhance or create software that’d be better than the mainstays of the time that they were to overthrow. Most people still use Microsoft Word so it’s clear to see that this idea never panned out.

Still, in his youth and naivete, it seemed like a good idea.

Maybe the domain was picked to reference the future group that never turned out. Maybe it was connotative. Maybe it was both. Perhaps it was neither. Maybe it started as one of those, and perhaps evolved into another.

Ever feel like the tasks you do ought take more than a person to complete?

Sometimes I feel that way. Perhaps in this manner, I am legion, accomplishing more than any one person ought. Perhaps in saying such one may see the connotation aforementioned.

If you’ve ever perused my code, it’ll be no secret that I have immense trouble finding descriptive names. Wouldn’t it be ironic if I stumbled upon one just for the sake of owning a domain name?

Considering my trouble with naming, maybe the choice in domain name was driven by suggestion of a close, trusted, friend? What if the meaning behind things isn’t even my own? What if I derived a meaning later?

Perhaps in saying all this you’ll have amassed a conclusion for yourself. I’d remind you, the reader, that it could yet be any, none, or a combo, or a progression of time over these. I’ve only merely presented options on which you might form the basis of an opinion, yet there could be yet more options unaddressed. Maybe your answer is here, maybe it’s only in my head. I’m happy regardless to live with whatever assumption you, the individual, or collective, make. Will I ever truly write a direct answer? Only time will tell. I do hope that the mystery makes things more enjoyable as you peruse the posts as they come. Maybe I’m also curious as to what you will think, or if you’ll share your thoughts as to what you might believe to be the answer.
